“...honest, probing, full of emotional depth, in a word -beautiful. She questions, challenges, dares to walk the boundaries of shadow and light. Her compositions are haunting and healing in equal measure with a musical style uniquely her own. ”
— Phil McIntyre-Paul (Jazz Club Salmon Arm)
Steph Clifford is a BC‐based folk singer‐songwriter whose music is rooted in sincerity, storytelling, and timeless melody. Known for her introspective lyrics and warm, open‐skied sound, Steph’s songs feel like familiar companions, offering quiet revelations and truths that linger long after the last note fades. She weaves raw, visual and heartfelt lyrics into guitar driven compositions in an unexpected blend of genres. At home on hall stages, in wine bar corners, or in the spotlight with a full band, her soft style brings the room in to a collective cozy vibe.
Steph's first three releases (November 2024), Cruel, Better All the Time, and Dirt, were recorded in CBC's Studio 2 for the Peer Pressure Song Club's compilation album, Yes, " offering a glimpse of her signature sound: Soft yet powerful, deeply personal and universally felt" (Darryl Sterdan, Tinnitist).
Cocoon, Steph's debut EP, was released September 1st, 2025. Recorded at Afterlife Studios and produced by Leon Power (City and Colour, Frazey Ford), this album explores honest and vulnerable songwriting complimented by rich production quality.
“Cocoon is a sonically rich and emotionally resonant collection that captures Clifford’s introspective storytelling at its finest”
“With lyrics that feel like pages torn from a journal, Cocoon explores the liminal space between endings and rebirth—where grief, hope, and clarity all coexist. . . she isn’t just introducing a record—she’s opening the door to an honest, vulnerable, and beautifully human listening experience.”
“The sound is ethereal, intimate, and accessible, providing a musical experience perfect for exploring vulnerability ”

“Fans of Phoebe Bridgers or even Billie Eilish will connect with Steph’s warm, welcoming vocal timbre and masterful production quality.”
“. . .the highlight of “Cocoon” is Clifford’s vocal performance, which is so wonderfully intimate and authentic that, at times, it is as though she’s singing directly to her listener.”
— UpToHear
“A diferencia de muchas canciones, "Cocoon" destaca principalmente por la voz melancólica y desoladora de Steph. A lo largo de la canción sientes que solamente están ella y tú en un mismo lugar, el sonido acústico que los acompaña te puede poner bastante emocional.”
